WHOO! I busted my butt over the weekend and relaunched my website tonight. It’s in it’s (I think?) fourth incarnation–and I LOVE the way the combined version is working so much better already.
Trying to manage multiple websites, blogs, and the social media for each was exhausting and overwhelming (which led to me shutting them down in the past). I’ve played around a bit with the backend set up, and I like this one the best by far.
I also managed to get some photo editing done for some new content that will go up later this week.
It is wonderful to change up which creative stream I’m focusing on and take a short breather from writing. Usually this inspires a boost in creativity overall and helps my brain rest and recharge before diving into another writing project.
I’m going to try rotating projects this summer instead of taking a break when I finish a draft like I’ve done in the past. Whether that ends up being switching out one manuscript for another or setting aside the laptop for a bit to pick up my camera or art supplies remains to be seen.
Focusing on my creative work in the evenings and weekends has also greatly improved my mood. Getting inundated with news and the darker side of social media took a terrible toll on my mental and physical health in January, and I’d like to change my habits so I have the stamina to get through the long journey we all have ahead.
I need to get some yin yoga and meditation in to help me sleep, so I’ll share more tomorrow.
Mischa
