After rising from the dead, Kesper Vespex must learn to control her new necromantic powers, join forces with the scouts charged to deliver her corpse, and choose whether to save the people who’ve ostracized her since birth or leave them to their fate. She also must embrace all aspects of herself—for the secret that left her outcast as a child may be the very key to saving the last remnants of humankind.
Trapped with her parents in her stifling childhood home, neurodivergent sapphic Kesper Vespex (24) cares for a mentally disturbed parent and assists the last surviving teacher in the primitive reconstructed town of Vestefalk, which prevents her from living freely anywhere else. After a seizure, Kesper discovers she can access the villagers’ memories of the invasion that nearly decimated the human population of Havenmark over twenty years ago.
Following a savage attack, Kesper revives to learn she single-handedly killed the monsters—and the villagers gathered her hour-dead corpse for burial. To attain answers regarding her emerging powers, Kesper must face ghastly creatures heralding a second Onslaught—risking her humanity and sanity in the process. Kesper will learn where her heart and morals lie as her safe world quickly reverts to the apocalyptic chaos the bonetwisters left in their original wake before her birth.
BEASTS OF BONE – Horror Fantasy, first draft in progress
Sequel to SING THE BONES. Kesper masters her powers while fighting against being molded into a ruthless weapon for others’ purposes and struggling to retain her soul and humanity. Her relationships grow more complex and strained as her companions witness the terrible choices she must make to keep those she loves alive and save humanity as circumstances force her to cross a point of no return. The themes revolve around survival and responsibility.
GLASS GHOSTS – Horror Fantasy, forthcoming
The third installment in the BONETWISTER trilogy. Kesper journeys to the mysterious land of the bonetwisters, located on another continent and an adjacent plane of existence. She will need to infiltrate them and pass as one of them to get to the heart of their corrupt world and destroy them from within. The major themes are love, friendship, and selflessness.
