Interior Book Art

Interior Book Art

I work primarily with horror, dark fantasy, speculative fiction, gothic, romance, romantasy, and other stories that deserve an unusual visual world.

All prices listed are starting points. Final quotes are based on complexity, production requirements, materials, number of subjects, revisions, formats, and licensing.

What to Expect with Book Design and Illustration

Spot Illustrations $100+ each

Small illustrations integrated throughout a book. For example, a small image at the end of a chapter in the white space at the bottom of the page.

Highly detailed characters, complex environments, multiple scenes, unusual compositions, or extensive digital compositing may require a custom quote regardless of subject count.

Chapter Ornaments/Decorative Elements $50–100 each

Ornamentation around “Chapter One” or the chapter title or section header like “Act 1” or “Part 1.” This also describes a simple design to separate scenes instead of using a line of white space or “***”.

Suggested sets:

  • 5 — $300
  • 10 — $550
  • 20 — $1,000

Chapter-Opening Illustrations $150–250 each

This is a drawing that would go in the white space at the top of the page at the beginning of a new chapter.

Full-Page Illustrations $250–350+ each

A full page illustration that would go opposite a text page inside the book.

Complex Narrative Illustrations $400–750+ each

For highly detailed scenes, multiple characters, elaborate environments, or extensive compositing.

Double-Page SpreadsCustom Quote

An illustration that covers two full facing book pages to create a single image.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Artwork creation and licensing are separate considerations.

Standard project pricing includes usage for the specified book and agreed publication format(s).

Additional licensing may apply for:

  • Merchandise
  • Advertising campaigns
  • Posters and large-format promotional materials
  • Multiple books or editions
  • Third-party licensing
  • Extensive commercial reproduction
  • Exclusive rights
  • Copyright transfer
  • Derivative products

Purchasing the physical original does not automatically transfer reproduction copyright.

Licensing terms will be clearly defined in the project agreement.

Standard projects include 2 rounds of revisions

Additional revisions or substantial changes outside the original scope: $50–75/hour

Work outside the agreed scope will be quoted and signed before proceeding.

Please be advised that changing the scope after the second revision may change the delivery date. This new date will be discussed if the agreed upon scope changes.

Projects requested on an accelerated timeline: +$100 starting

Rush pricing depends on the deadline, project complexity, and my current availability.

Extremely short deadlines may require a custom rush quote.

50% deposit is required to begin the project.

The remaining balance is due before delivery of final high-resolution files.

Physical artwork is not released until payment is complete.

Unclaimed and unpaid for artwork (due to unforeseen circumstances) with no arrangements set up with me after 90 days will be offered to other clients seeking premade covers or illustrations.

Custom Projects

These prices are starting points.

Every book is unique and takes its own individual journey to bring it to life—and speak the right visual language to attract the right audience.

For unusual concepts, multiple deliverables, extensive production, or larger collaborations, I provide a custom quote based on the actual scope of work.

Have a strange book, a quirky idea, or a visual problem that doesn’t fit neatly into the categories above? Send me a message! I love challenges, and I love bringing writers’ worlds to life!
